The Chevrolet mid-engine Corvette has been spotted testing next to the brand’s new ZR1. Though we spied the ZR1 earlier this month, this is the first instance where both cars have been caught testing alongside each other.

A camouflaged hood on the mid-engine Corvette serves to hide the test mule’s bulging shape and the air intake. Also, the openings behind the doors clearly indicate the presence of side air intakes to feed air to the engine. There are four exhaust tips at the rear, but surprisingly being a sportscar, it does not have a spoiler or a rear diffuser. This should ideally mean that this Corvette test car must be in the early stages of development.

As both cars were shot alongside each other, we were able to spot the higher ground clearance on the ZR1, in comparison to the mid-engine Corvette. Both ZR1 test mules shot in this instance had different wings; one decidedly smaller than the other. Power for the Chevrolet ZR1 is reported to be sourced from the new 6.2-litre V8 engine.

Chevrolet is expected to introduce the ZR1 by the end of 2017, so stay tuned to CarTrade for the details.
