American automaker Chevrolet has been a decent performer in the Indian market. Car models like Cruze, Beat and Tavera have been popular sellers in their respective segments. As per sources, the company has been planning on launching the Spin and Spin Activ models in India sometime early next year. The Spin or Essentia from Chevrolet shall make its presence felt in the MUV segment, whereas the Spin Activ or Ultiva shall make a mark in the compact-SUV segment.
The upcoming seven-seater Chevrolet Spin is expected to be powered by 1.3-litre diesel engine that would be capable of generating about 89bhp of power with 205Nm of peak torque. For safety, the Spin SUV is likely to receive ABS and dual airbags. In terms of features, the vehicle shall receive steering mounted audio controls, satellite navigation, touchscreen infotainment system and reverse parking camera.
The Spin Activ SUV is likely to be offered as a five seater compact model. The compact-SUV is expected to be launched with the same 1.3-litre diesel engine and carry similar features like the Spin MPV. Both the vehicles are expected to be manufactured at GM’s Halol plant in Gujarat. More details about the vehicles shall be known in the coming months.
