The group is likely to introduce the technology in upcoming 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, and Silverado models. On an initial level, the prognostic technology shall be limited to keeping a check on vehicle battery, fuel pump and starter motor via its built-in sensors. Over a period the technology may find usage on other major components. The data collected shall be sent to OnStar's servers for further analysis and be used on a larger scale.

The technology would be optional in the 2016 trims. It shall leverage the 4G LTE capabilities of OnStar to access more powerful servers and computers that are indeed capable of better analyzing the car's sensor data. The technology is indeed beneficial for manufacturers as it helps them build perfect machines, and also for the end consumer who can be ensured of problem-free commuting experience.
