With the commencement of Indian Premier League (IPL), the traffic police of India have had to work a little more. The traffic routes are being modified in most cities that are hosting IPL matches.

Traffic police have made several amendments to the routes around the home ground of Chennai Super Kings. The officials have made several diversions in the area located in the vicinity of Triplicane, since IPL matches are scheduled in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk. These diversions in Chennai will be placed on 12th, 21st and 28th of April, between 1 and 7 pm. In addition, Bells Road will be transformed into a one way stretch, which will have entry only from Wallajah Road during the timings of an IPL match. Private vehicles holding the letters M, P, T, W and V will be allowed from Anna Salai to Wallajah Road on Bells Road. On the other hand, the vehicles bearing B and R will be directed towards the park at the MRTS station or towards the Pattabiraman Gate of the stadium.

On the other hand, the police officials will not allow traffic movement from Kamarajar Salai to Bharathi Salai, except MTC buses and vehicles with special passes. Canal Road will be also converted into a one way route, with entry only from Bharathi Salai.

Vehicles arriving from War Memorial and Gandhi Statue with M, P, T, W and V letters and MTC buses will be permitted to pass through Bharathi Salai, Canal Road. Rest of the vehicles will be diverted towards the service road leading to park on Foreshore Service Road, which is located alongside Public Works Department Office. However, vehicles arriving from Gandhi Statue will head towards Kamarajar Salai and board the service road, which lies adjacent to the PWD office and park on Foreshore Road. Cars and two wheelers without valid passes arriving from Anna Salai will transit via Wallajah Road, Labour Statue, Kamarajar Salai and park on Foreshore Road.

As far as traffic regulations of Mumbai regarding IPL are concerned, police officials have said that ‘D’ Road will be used as a one way transit during match days. It will only be accessible via its intersection on N. S. Road (Marine Drive) to ‘E’ and ‘C’ Roads on 6th and 22nd April and on 6th May from 1 pm to 9 pm. In addition to these, the diversions on these roads will also be present on 11th, 16th, 29th of April and 9th and 16th May during 5 pm to midnight.

‘E’ Road will be used as one way for all types of vehicles from its intersection of ‘D’ Road to the intersection of ‘C’ Road on 6th and 22nd April as well as on 6th May between 1 pm to 9 pm. These traffic rules will be also implemented on 11th, 16th and 29th April and 9th as well as 16th May between 5 pm and midnight.
