Everyone portrays the Caterham ‘Seven’ to be a quick and fun to drive machine, and not exactly a luxurious car. However, that’s about to change as Caterham is working towards changing this perception.

Caterham joins Harrods to roll out a special edition Seven

Caterham has joined hands with London’s department store, ‘Harrods’, to make a special edition Seven that will undoubtedly be the brand’s the most luxurious Seven ever built. This edition will go on sale next week at the Harrods store in Knightsbridge, UK, and will set you back by USD 74,296 (Rs 49.48 lakh), a price tag that’s twice that of a standard Seven 420!

Under the hood is a Ford Duratec 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine which produces 210bhp and can get this car to 100kmph from standstill in just 3.8sec before hitting a maximum speed of 219kmph. This Seven will get a shade of the store’s signature green, and will also come with a white stripe. The interiors will use a butterscotch shade of leather, a dashboard that’s finished in wood, and a Harrods ‘H’ adorning the gear knob and key.

This will be the first product to roll out of Caterham’s new Signature personalization program and buyers will be able to choose from a see a variety of options like exterior paint shades, interior trim and chassis colour. Caterham’s chief commercial officer, David Ridley, said, “A Caterham Seven isn’t a car you need to buy, it’s a car you buy because you want it. As such, we believe you should make it your own in every way.”

Harrods’ Media Director, Guy Cheston, commented, “We wanted to make our Harrods car a real object of desire, so our Harrods touches are subtle and understated and, at the same time, reflect genuine quality.”
