The Auto Expo 2012 has gathered much limelight, well before it goes out to rejoice the enthusiasts, and over a period of time new facts have emerged from within. It has been learnt that going beyond the standard thinking, car companies are aiming to add weight to their portfolio by bringing in a different breed of cars this time.

From Maruti to Mercedes-Benz, the major emphasis would be laid on the type of products being introduced at the event, rather than sticking to the basics that are price driven. In view of the detrimental slowdown in demand, car makers have realised lately that arousing limitless interest, among customers, counting on innovation and advancement would aid in pulling maximum populace towards the show.

Maruti Suzuki, the king of small car segment has two major launches on the cards namely, the Ertiga MUV and a concept compact SUV. As a matter of fact, none of the two is eligible for the compact car segment of the Indian market.

Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer, marketing & sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, "This is our way of expanding our portfolio and branching out into newer segments. Right now the Ertiga segment is virtually non-existent in India. So, we want to create this niche and ride the first mover advantage. That's the job of the market leader - identify niches and cater to them ahead of the pack."

Volkswagen too has intentionally distracted itself from the small segment and is set to display its iconic Beetle that carries a price tag of above Rs. 20 lacs.

Thus, the 11th edition of Asia's largest auto show is all-prepared to set the ball rolling for hosting an all together unique showcasing paradise this time round.
