      Car carrying Rs. 70 Lakhs seized by Police days before Assembly Elections in Maharashtra

      Security in the state has been beefed up in the state owing to upcoming assembly elections in the state. Money laundering during elections is something that everybody is well aware of in the country, to avoid such illegal activities during elections Flying Squad of Election Officers are on their toes to nab the offenders. During one such day on duty, Flying Squad of Election Officers have managed to intercept a car carrying about Rs. 70 lakhs in cash near Nagpur's Jagnade Square.

      Reportedly, the Flying Squad of Election Officers had received a tip-off about the huge amount being transported in Maruti Swift. The news seemed to be true when the vehicle was intercepted at the Jagnade Square. The vehicle was reportedly being driven by an individual named Vinod Kodane, a resident of Kharbi, who was transporting the cash to Wathoda. Post taking the vehicle in Police custody, Income Tax officials along with with election commission officials were informed who reached the poice station station soon after.

      Details on who is the exact owner of this money and for what purpose it was being transported is unknown for now and the case is under investigation. Prima Facie it has been learnt that the money was being transported to the car owner's sister's residence in Wathoda.
