For the first time in Indian auto history, an offer has appeared in the daylight, saying buy 1 and get 1 for free. A Skoda Auto dealership in Gujarat, Torque Auto, has offered first-of-a kind deal to buyers on the purchase of Rapid sedan. According to this dealership, if an individual purchases a Rapid, he will be provided with a Fabia hatchback absolutely free.
However, there is a little catch in the deal. The free Fabia hatchback will be provided to the buyer after five years to the purchase date of Rapid sedan. The so called absolutely free model will come as a base variant in either petrol or diesel engine options, depending on the choice of Rapid’s engine. For instance, if individual buys petrol powered Rapid, he will be provided with a base model of petrol Fabia and vice-versa.
Industry experts believe that this move of Torque Auto has created a great buzz in the market. Considering discounts offered by the other dealers of Skoda India, individuals are provided with an off of Rs. 1,00,000 on the purchase of Rapid. However, this deal is not valid if buyer is interested in taking the delivery of Skoda Fabia five years down the line.
From this deal, it can be also interpreted that Torque Auto has pilled up an excess inventory of the base model of Fabia hatchback, which is therefore tagged with the company’s best selling sedan, Rapid. However, it is also believed that this advertisement will ruin the image of both - Rapid and Fabia models in the Indian market as it is just a promotion stunt to boost the sales of latter.
