Idaho is not a place that comes to anyone’s mind for vacation purposes. However, if you are someone who has an affinity for watching cars test their limits, it is a time to reconsider destination preferences.

Sun Valley Road Rally is hosted every summer since 2009. This year, this one-day event was held on 27th July, where one of the participants drove his Bugatti Veyron Vitesse all the way up to 235.7 mph and set the top speed for the whole rally.

The event premise looks simple and clean. Since 2009, Sun Valley Road Rally is a one-day affair where a stretch of 1-75 cars throws its speed restrictions up for a challenge. From 8 am till 3 pm, all the local traffic gets diverted to another route. Drivers from all across the world come down and run what they bring.

Aptly the car of choice for this event has always been Bugatti Veyron, a super car that’s aptly called ‘HellBug’. If you close your eyes, you will hardly find a difference between Bugatti passing by at 235.7 mph and a jet launching from an aircraft carrier.

The car is powered with a quad-turbocharged 8-litre W16 good for 1200 HP. In addition to this, 60 mph comes and goes in just 2.2 seconds. If you mat it long enough, you can in fact reach 255 mph. All the funds that are generated out of Sun Valley Road Rally are sent directly to Blaine County Drug Coalition. This organization aims at helping youth to fight against drug addiction.
