Buddh International Circuit, the Formula 1 track located in Greater Noida, has offered a golden opportunity to the Indian auto enthusiasts by allowing them to drive the Volkswagen Polo race cars in its premises. This chance has been made available following the launch of open track day in April last year. Interestingly, Buddh International Circuit has maintained the top international standards and is ideally meant for running super cars or high end cars.
Industry experts are of a view that passenger cars, which form a major part of the Indian market, are likely to get affected by the demands of this track. Owing to this, a lot of people were slightly apprehensive about exposing their personal cars to such a road. As a result of this, the management at the circuit decided to provide vehicles for enthusiasts who want to take a ride on this world class road. This venture has been started in association with Volkswagen Motorsport India, which will allow people to come to the circuit, hire the vehicle and choose from different packages available.
Customers will be given the Polo Cup TDI, the 1.6 litre model that was phased out last year by Volkswagen. The interiors of this car have been given a complete makeover to make it look like an actual racing vehicle. Instead of the original seats, lightweight bucket seats have been used along with motor sport roll cage. Other features of the Volkswagen Polo Cup TDI include an output of 130 bhp, 6 speed + 1 manual transmission and Sachs racing suspension. This service is available only on Saturdays during the time frame of 9 am to 6 pm.
The range of the packages available starts from a 3-lap taxi ride with a professional racer and goes up to self drive for one hour. There are four packages on offer, 3-lap taxi ride at Rs. 4500, five-lap self drive at Rs. 5000, 30 minutes self drive at Rs. 10000 and one hour self drive at Rs. 15000. People availing this service will be given the option of getting dressed as a professional racer for a complete racing experience. Also, a set of technical instructions will be given to customers before they actually hit the circuit.
