James Bevan, the British High Commissioner to India, had organised a super spy James Bond themed Saturday night party at his Rajaji Marg residence on December 15, 2012. The highlights of the party were a Blackjack table, Martini Bar, life sized iconic Bond movies posters and the relishing super sports car Aston Martin DB9 (Yes!). Bevan dedicated his party as a tribute to Ian Fleming's '007' franchise, which recently celebrated its 50 years of existence. According to James Bevan, British movie icon Sean Connery has played the best Bond character in the entire franchise, while the latest flick 'Skyfall' is the best Bond movie of all times.

The DB9 sports car is the latest in line of the 'DB' range and possesses distinguished lineage of the iconic and most favourite Bond vehicles of all time, the Aston Martin DB5. The DB9 is a two door, four-seater sports coupe and comes trimmed with an immensely powerful powertrain rated at 469 bhp power output and 600 Nm torque delivery. The stylish sports car zooms to 100 kmph from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 300 kmph.

As per dailymail.co.uk, Nancy Powell, United States Ambassador to India, came dressed as a James Bond's lady boss M, the renowned character played by actress Judi Dench, while most of the other guests arrived in cliché 007 attire. Further, the British High Commissioner gave a very interesting speech, which included all the previous 23 titles of James Bond flicks. Bevan emerged as an interesting character and does know how to engage his audience.

It was also revealed that the celebration marked three successful decades of Chevening scholarships that are offered by United Kingdom (UK) Foreign and Commonwealth office. The Chevening student scholarships are awarded to young people, so as to enable them to pursue their lifelong dreams of studying in UK. The sponsorships are offered to bright students with leadership qualities for admission into post graduate courses in leading UK universities.
