It has been learnt from sources that some of the dealers at Volkswagen outlets have started accepting bookings for updated version of Polo hatchback at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Set to be rolled out on July 15th, Volkswagen will spin off refreshed Polo in three trim levels-Comfortline, Highline and Highline+, while the company will bid adieu to Trendline variant. If media reports are to be believed, Volkswagen will also launch performance oriented range of Polo dubbed, Polo GT in domestic market in both petrol and diesel trims (Polo GT TSI and Polo GT TDI) in the upcoming time.
What majorly changes in the new Polo is the replacement of 1.6 litre diesel powertrain with a 1.5 litre diesel mill. The new 1.5 litre TDI motor is said to deliver a varied power and torque output of 90 PS along with 230 Nm of torque and 105 PS along with 250 Nm of torque. Petrol range will continue to be powered with a 1.2 litre naturally-aspirated, three pot, gasoline engine.
Various cosmetic tweaks have been bestowed on the 2014 Polo; most of the prominent changes have been done in the front profile. Front grille has been modified sporting a single chrome strip unlike the previous two slat grille. Head lamps also feature mirror elements, additional features embedded inside the cabin include like three-spoke steering wheel and silver inserts on the centre console. Besides these additions, inclusion of a 10 spoke alloy wheels is also on cards.
