Tata Motors will start online bookings for its latest model Tata Nano. According to the insiders this is the first time an Indian automobile manufacturer is sporting an online booking feature. The applications are being accepted between 9-25 April 2009.
"The Tatas have certainly devised a futuristic way of doing business," said auto expert and commentator Tutu Dhawan, who anticipates a good response for online booking, going by the initial response for the car. "When almost everything today is available online, why not a car?" Dhawan told IANS, adding: "It is also time buyers are offered the ease and convenience of booking vehicles online."
Tata Motors will also be selling its co-branded merchandise like T-shirts, watches, phones etc. at various retail outlets across India. The website for Tata Nano has a detailed section explaining the online booking process. It also has a secure payment gateway process for making an online booking via netbanking transfer.
