German automobile manufacturer BMW, according to a report by MCN, is looking into launching a new range of motorcycles, which will be based on the same platform as the R nineT. Some sources suggest that one of the bikes in this line-up, the entry-level model, will compete against the much-acclaimed Ducati Scrambler.

BMW is going to keep the mechanical configuration of the bike similar to the R nineT but it is going to customise the bike cosmetically to enhance its appeal. Experts are of the opinion that BMW will be able to beat Ducati by adopting a more aggressive pricing policy. It is being said that the Scrambler competitor from BMW will be priced below Rs. 6.3 lakh.

The success of R1200 GS and R nineT bikes has spurred on BMW Motorrad to adopt an aggressive stance in the international market. Statistically, sales of these two bikes helped BMW Motorrad deliver its best quarterly sales figures of all time during the January-March period in 2015. The R nineT model, in particular, has caught with aficionados across the world like a forest fire, selling 8,500 units in the previous financial year. Speculations are rife that the BMW has given an intimation to dealerships in Europe regarding a 2015-end launch of the new model.
