      BMW to Expand to Tier II Cities in India

      BMW is planning to launch its cars in Tier II cities in India. The luxury car manufacturer already marks its presence in Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi. It shall now have its showrooms in Lucknow, Jaipur and Coimbtore which will make total 12-15 dealerships from BMW in next year. "We will have dealers in tier II towns like Lucknow, Coimbatore and Jaipur in the next one year," BMW India President, Peter Kronschnabl.

      The company has already stepped up its sales target for India and plans to capture larger market share. BMW AG sold 1397 cars in 2007. It has raised its sales target for the current year by 40 percent to 2800 units in 2008. It has already marked a sale of 2000 cars so far in India. "We are not affected by any slowdown in the automobile sector in India," remarks Peter Kronschnabl. “Globally, we are the world’s largest premium car maker. In India, also we want to achieve the same position,” he stated.

      It will bring its luxury sports model X6 to India next year. BMW X6 Sports model will be available in the country in the middle of the next calendar year. Moreover, it shall launch its brand MINI probably by 2010. "We have decided that we would not launch the brand in 2009. But will review it for 2010,” added Peter Kronschnabl.
