What you see are spy shots of BMW's M2 spotted while testing. Though the current model has only been in the market for the last two years, BMW is keen on keeping their model as up to date as possible.

The camouflage on the headlamps, front bumper, rear diffuser and around the tail lamps is an obvious effort to hide the updated design. It is believed that the facelifted M2 may continue to use the same motor that makes 365bhp and 465Nm of torque. However, sources suggest that an M2 CS version could be in development with a detuned unit of the motor that does duty in the M4. It is possible that this biturbo 3.0-litre engine could make it to the M2 CS with close to 400bhp on tap.

If the M2 CS makes it to production, the model could come with tougher brakes to handle the stronger motor. It is rumoured that the version could also be introduced with other upgrades like a sportier body kit, a new set of wheels, and freshened interiors to justify the premium over the regular version. There’s also some speculation about a weight loss for the new car, though it may not be as extreme as the M4 GTS which cut down more than 80kg over the standard car.

BMW could introduce the facelifted M2 alongside the regular 2 Series before the end of 2017, and the M2 CS may debut in 2018.
