Sources state that BMW’s facelifted i8 is due to be released in the global market sometime in 2017.

BMW plans to launch i8 facelift in 2017

The i8 has been in showrooms for the past three years, and going by new reports, the facelifted car will sport 372bhp, which is an increase of 15bhp. With the enhanced power, it is possible for the new car to crack quicker times to 100kmph (currently 4.4sec).

The power increment from the petrol-electric hybrid powertrain will not come at the cost of range, as BMW will actually be increasing the range of the new i8! This is made possible mainly due to the use of the revised 10kWh battery pack like on the Formula E safety vehicle (i8), unlike the regular car’s 7.1kWh battery pack. Expect the upgraded i8 to also come with a few chassis tweaks, like altered springs and dampers, along with modified upper wishbones and mounting points.

BMW is also developing an i8 Spyder that may be introduced once the regular facelift goes on sale. Stay glued to CarTrade for more on the i8 in the time to come.
