Instead of making a high profile announcement of its new vehicles, the German automobile company, BMW decided to announce its 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe over the weekend with minimum publicity. Car enthusiasts can expect the official launch of its upgraded new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next year in January.

Expected to go on sale in June next year, the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe will be offered to the American car buyers in three variants. The first variant to enter the market will be the BMW 640i Series Gran Coupe powered with TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine. Later, the BMW 640i Series will be joined by two more variants, the TwinPower Turbo V-8 powered 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe and the all-wheel drive 2013 BMW 650i xDrive Gran Coupe.

Details about the price of the new four-door coupe have not yet been confirmed, but the industry expects the estimated price to be around $77,600. The expected price is based on the base price of 2012 two door-version of the model which is around $73,600.

The German auto brand has developed the advanced model of the 2012 version giving special emphasis on the comfort of rear passengers. According to BMW press release, “The Gran Coupe is 4.4 inches (111 mm) longer than its 2-door coupe sibling. A significant part of this extra length has been used to enhance seating comfort for the rear passengers.”

Furthermore, the 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe also has a 4.5-inch longer wheelbase in comparison to its two-door version. The four-door coupe is also added with a real trunk that measures at 16.4 cubic feet. The advancements expected in the 2013 BMW 6 Series Coupe also include new lighting technology in the form of optional adaptive LED headlights.

Another addition to the 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is the M Sport package which is especially developed for the new four-door coupe. The M Sport package will include features like exhaust tips with black chrome, black coloured brake callipers, LED fog-lamps, a sports exhaust system in the BMW 650i Gran Coupe and 19-inch light-alloy wheels in M double spoke design.

Despite of its heavier structure, the two-door coupe version offers an excellent package of a sporty convertible.

Promising a great deal with its 2013 BMW 6 Series Coupe, BMW plans to take over from well received models like the four-door Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS.
