BMW will be launching M6 Gran Coupe in India tomorrow; the vehicle was recently caught on lens by paparazzi prior to its launch in the domestic market. M6 Gran Coupe grabbed eyeballs at the 12th Edition of Asia’s largest auto show, Auto Expo held in Greater Noida in February 2014.
BMW has packed M6 Gran Coupe with the same robust engine that powers M5 a 4.4 litre V8 motor fitted with BMWs Twin Scroll and Twin Turbocharging technology. The powerful engine belts out a maximum power output of 560 hp between 6,000 to 7,000 RPM and a top torque of 680 Nm between 1,500 to 5,750 RPM. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a 7-speed M double clutch gearbox.
The 4.4 litre V8 engine enables the vehicle to rush from rest to 100 kmph within 4.2 seconds and attain a top speed of 250 kmph which can be optionally elevated to 305 kmph. Company claims the vehicle to deliver a decent fuel economy of 10.1 kms in a litre in the EU driving cycle.
We expect M6 Grab coupe to be pricier than 6 Series Gran Coupe that is available for sale in India at a starting price of Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom price). Since the company will be proffering the vehicle in India as a completely built unit, therefore the prices are expected to be on higher side.
M6 Gran Coupe will face competition from Audi RS 7, the latter is equipped with an engine that offer slower displacement as compared to the former’s 4.4 litre V8 engine, however, the power output delivered by both the motors is same. When it comes to acceleration, Audi’s RS 7 scores high, the vehicle takes just 3.9 seconds as against M6 Gran Coupe’s 4.2 seconds to reach 100 kmph from 0.
