New generation BMW M5 is due by early 2011. This twin turbo-charged uber sports sedan has been caught testing around Nurburgring, Germany. It arrives only after the new 5-series models slated for launch in 2010 and codenamed as F10.

The current M5 sedan is powered by a 507HP 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine. It is one of the most high acclaimed sports sedans in the market providing supercar-like performance and handling along with daily driver comfort and livability. It has won countless awards including the engine of the year in 2005 & 2006 and has just been awarded the Engine of the year in the above 4-liter category for 2008. BMW intends to keep it that way with the M5's replacement.

2011 BMW M5 will be mated to BMW’s new 7-speed M DCT double clutch transmission or 6-speed manual gear box. It also features an intelligent alternator control system that not only uses wasted energy due to regenerative breaking but also monitors the battery. The new vehicle will have increased power and fuel economy without sacrificing performance.
