BMW M4 Convertible to be revealed at New York Motor Show

2014 New York Motor Show will witness unveiling of new M4 convertible. M4 convertible is the four seat-open-top vehicle, the third among the M division models to get new generation turbocharged six-cylinder motor. Other two models from M series that will be packed with new generation turbocharged six-cylinder motor include M3 and M4 coupe. These two vehicles were revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January.

Based on the 4-Series convertible, M4 convertible has been given various styling changes including a reworked bumper fitted with larger cooling ducts, revivified bonnet,restyled kidney grille treatment, broadened front and rear fenders, new exterior mirror housings and a revamped rear bumper.

The tweaked version of vehicle is longer, wider and lower than the outgoing model. But, it offers improved wheelbase and enhanced front as well as rear tracks. It takes 20 seconds to the three piece metal roof to open at the push of a button. New M4 convertible offers a boot space of 370 litres with roof in place and 220 litres with roof folded. Inside the cabin, changes can be seen in the form of heated sports seats, new chrome trim and M steering wheel. BMW will pack the new M4 Convertible with a 3.0 litre in-line cylinder motor that pumps a maximum power of 425Bhp.

The gasoline engine will be harmonized to a six-speed manual transmission, a seven speed dual clutchtrannywill be offered as optional. MT trim of the convertible will be able to rush from 0 to 100kmphwithin 4.6 seconds and the automatic variant will be able to achieve 100kmphfrom rest in 4.4 seconds. Company claims to have refined the vehicle’s suspension for enhanced fuel economy , response and precision. There are three modes of driving-Comfort, Sport and Sport+driving offered in Adaptive M suspension package.
