      BMW launches used car business BMW Premium Selection in India

      The country’s largest luxury car seller BMW India has launched its used car business in the Indian market. The new BMW pre-owned car initiative will enable the customers in India to own a BMW product at as low as Rs 16 lakh. The BMW Premium Selection, as named by the firm, is expected to acquire 10 percent of the company’s total new cars sales in the country.

      Speaking to the reporters in Gurgaon on Thursday, BMW India President Andreas Schaaf said, "Till October this year we have sold a total of 8,042 cars in India, accounting for 40 per cent of the luxury car market. With the BMW Premium Selection, we are looking to enhance position." He added that the company expects he used car business to be about 10 per cent of new car sales.

      While exemplifying the expected price difference between the new and used BMW car, he said, "For example, a 3 Series sedan with three years of usage, can be available for up to Rs 16 lakh as against Rs 24 lakh for a brand new one."

      The BMW Premium Selection will be having seven exclusive pre-owned BMW car dealerships in the Indian market, and the number dealerships will be increased gradually over the period in next 12 to 18 months.
