It is a bottleneck between Mercedes and BMW in India. Both the luxury car makers are vying for the top slot in the Indian market and each month’s sales are eagerly anticipated by Indian auto market. Last month’s sales reveal that BMW has regained its top position looking at sales from January –November 2010.

According to the latest Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) figures, BMW has made a strong comeback and sold 5,345 units compared to 5,109 units sold by Mercedes Benz during the last 11 months of this year.

Industry experts feel that with only one month left to the year end, Mercedes is unlikely to spring up any surprises in the segment and BMW may again emerge as the top luxury car maker in India for the year 2010. Audi is also catching up fast in its sales in India with its expansion plans lined up

"We are not concentrating to be the number one. Our focus is on profitable growth and we are investing heavily on customer relationship," commented Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Wilfried Aulbur.
