      BMW Introduces the M5 and BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Concept Study at the at Auto Expo 2012

      BMW Vision ConnectedDrive concept study includes Infotainment, Safety, and Comfort, which gives an indication of the intelligent, networked driving of the future.

      Showcased at the Auto Expo 2012, BMW M5 is a combination of comfort and performance. Exclusive limited-edition BMW Individual 7 Series Composition is also introduced in this expo. It is inspired by piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons and reflects the creative potential of the company.

      With the of the new BMW M5 and BMW Vision ConnectedDrive concept at the 11th Auto Expo 2012, BMW India presented Sheer Driving Pleasure.

      Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW Group India said, "Pioneering technology of the BMW Vision ConnectedDrive concept study heightens driving pleasure. BMW Vision ConnectedDrive has strengthened the leading position of BMW in the development of innovative driver assistance systems. The concept symbolises the advanced level of intelligent networking in the automobile world which sets new benchmarks in convenience, infotainment and safety."

      A natural part of the interlinked world, BMW Vision ConnectedDrive concept study combines elements like call centre services, driver assistance, online applications and solutions for the integration of mobile devices. This concept signifies the essence of intelligent networking of driver, vehicle and environment in the present world.

      Launched on the very first day of Delhi Auto Expo, it is possible to order the new BMW M5 as Completely Built Unit (CBU). Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW Group India added, "The new BMW M5 is a high performance athlete in a business suit and is a unique blend of two worlds - performance and luxury. BMW M stands for a unique philosophy of driving pleasure - high performance, sophisticated sporting flair and aesthetics. M cars are designed to be fun. And I guarantee, the new BMW M5 is a lot of fun."

      The new BMW M5 is the fifth generation model, which will lure buyers with its sportiness, luxury and practicality. This sedan from BMW will showcase tremendous power as it is loaded with 4.4 litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. Engine of this luxury sedan is capable of generating 560 hp due to which it can attain top speed of 250 kmph. In 4.4 seconds, the car can attain speed of 100 kmph from stand still. It is possible for the car to break the barrier of 200 kmph in 13 seconds. Torque churned by the engine of this car is 680 Nm. As per the company, the car would be delivering mileage of 10.1 kmpl and its CO2 emission would be 232 g/km.

      On-road performance of this car is expected to be outstanding owing to the presence of M double clutch transmission with drivelogic, dynamic damper control, and M servotronic steering. Further, active M differential and M braking system are also included in the car. Brake energy regeneration and automatic start and stop facility is also provided.

      Exterior of this car is extremely attractive and the design is refined by front kidney grille bars black, rearview camera, glass sunroof, headlight washer system. The car also has xenon light for low-beam and high-beam headlights, Park Distance Control (PDC) front and rear, as well as the M rear spoiler. BMW individual high-gloss shadow line and left and right dual exhaust tailpipes with chrome finishes are the highlighting exterior features. The 19” M light alloy wheels of this car has double spoke 345 M  including mixed tyres, which offers stylist look to the M5.

      Interior of this car is equally amazing and every feature reflects style and sophistication. M5 has interior trim finishers aluminium ‘Trace’, along with the optional fine-wood trim ash grain brown and fine-wood trim ‘Fineline’ anthracite trims. Leather merino with extended contents Sakhir orange/black upholstery enhances the interior look of the car. Some highlighting interior features are electric steering column adjustment, cruise control with braking, M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles and door sill finishers with M designation.

      In addition to these features, the luxury sedan has M Drive, multi function steering wheel, soft-closing function for door, roller sunblinds, electric seat adjustment and lumbar support for driver and passenger. For rear side windows, roller sunblind is provided in the car. The exterior and interior mirror of the BMW M5 has automatic anti-dazzle function. Other highlighting interior features of the sedan includes ambient light, headup display with M view, smokers package, BMW Individual headliner anthracite and automatic air conditioning.

      For the safety of the passengers, the BMW M5 is provided with side airbags for driver and front passengers, head airbag front and rear, and active headrest. Other safety features of the car include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), CBC, ABS and DTC. The centre lock function, crash sensor, automatic fuel pump shut-off and alarm system are also provided in the premium sedan.

      The company has taken special care for entertainment and communication. Navigation system professional, HiFi system professional and preparation for mobile phone with Bluetooth interface facilities are included in the M5 car. BMW apps, USB audio interface and music interface for smart phone are also provided.

      BMW M5 is available in Alpine White colour; however, other colour options are Monte Carlo Blue, Black Sapphire, Space Grey, Havanna, Singapore Grey, Silverstone and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect. With a price tag of INR 95,90,000 (ex-showroom), the new BMW M5 would soon be available for buyers.

      Inspired by piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons, an exclusive limited-edition BMW Individual 7 Series (BMW 750Li) was presented at the Auto Expo 2012. For promoting and encouraging young musicians at national and international level, it was presented as part of a joint initiative between Steinway & Sons and BMW. As a CBU (completely built-up), one can order the Steinway and Sons edition of the BMW 7 Series at BMW dealerships across the country.
