With the Indian Auto Expo getting closer, car manufacturers has started revealing their lineups to be showcased at the event. The German luxury carmaker, BMW has revealed its plans for the upcoming Auto Expo, where the company will present its 4 new models and its entire lineup currently on sale in India.
BMW India will launch the new 3-Series GT at the Auto Expo 2014. The other three models to be showcased will be the new BMW M6 Gran Coupe, the new generation BMW X5 SUV and the i8 plug-in hybrid sportscar.
The 3-Series GT is basically a longer, wider and taller version of the 3-Series, which offers spaciousness of 5-Series, the utility of X3 and the compactness of 3-series saloon. Its wheelbase has been increased by up to 100mm, which results into larger legroom for the rear passengers. It will be offered in two diesel variants- the 4-cylinder 320d and six-cylinder 330d, paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The M6 Gran Coupe is already on sale in India, and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine that churns out a massive 552bhp of power. The new generation X5 looks quite identical to its predecessor, but with subtle changes, it appears more attractive and better in all areas.
First unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW i8 gets the 1.5-litre twin-power turbo petrol engine with intelligent energy management system. This petrol engine produces 231bhp, which combined to an electric motor develops 131bhp. It accelerates to 100kmpl from zero in just 4.5 seconds.
