      BMW i3 expected to arrive in India by 2014

      The iconic German car manufacturer, BMW is looking forward to the launch of its electric car, i3 in the Indian car market. The model has been already unveiled in Asia, Europe and America regions and is likely to debut in the country by 2014. It must be noted that 'i' series is specifically created by BMW for its electric vehicles, which at present comprise of i3 and i8 models. As reported, i3 will first make its headway start in India by the end of this year; however nothing is confirmed as of now. During the early phase of 2014, BMW i3 will be rolled out in markets like Beijing and New York. Talking about the price of BMW i3, it shall be offered for 35000 Euros in European markets while it will cost around 41350 Dollars in United States. However, the price for Chinese market is not ascertained as of now.

      The electric car, i3 is built by BMW for driving in normal city conditions and can easily seat four people. As claimed by the company, BMW i3 gives zero carbon emissions and can travel from 130 to 300 km in a single charge. The kerb weight of this car stands at 1200 kg as the battery along carries a weight of around 230 kg. In order to bring down the weight of the vehicle, the company has used carbon fibre material along with toughened plastics on an aluminium chassis. In India, i3 will first make inroads that soon will soon be followed by the launch of i8. The upcoming electric car of BMW will arrive in India through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route.

      One of the main highlights of BMW i3 is its parts, which can be recycled. Other noteworthy features of BMW i3 include its ability to charge from a domestic household socket or plug. Apart from this, one can use the BMWi wall box, which possess the ability to charge the battery in approximately six hours. The electric car of German auto maker is equipped with a 125 kw motor, which is powered by lithium-ion batteries.
