The German automobile giant, BMW, is all set to showcase its first BMW i-series and the all-new BMW M5 during the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. BMW i-series is a futuristic and sustainable brand that is expected to premiere its first two vehicles, the fully electric BMW i3 concept and the hybrid electric BMW i8 concept.

The BMW i3 and i8 concept cars are the first purpose-built electric and electric-hybrid vehicles, which will be built primarily using carbon fibre. BMW i3 is expected to hit the markets during 2013, whereas BMW i8 will be available during 2014.

Earlier known as the “megacity vehicle”, the BMW i3 electric car concept is a compact vehicle which is best suited for congested city travelling. The BMW i3 electric vehicle features large glass doors that have ‘coach’ style opening which means that the back doors open opposite to the front doors.

On the other hand, the BMW i8 electric-hybrid concept inspired by the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics car that features in the upcoming spy film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The BMW i8 concept is a sleek, low-to-the-ground sports car that features flip-up doors.

Another model expected to be seen at the BMW stand during the show is the next generation BMW M5. The all-new BMW M5 has been built by combining the superior performance of a sports car and the luxuries of a business sedan. As a result, the new M5 is expected to have improved efficiency, well-equipped driver assistance systems along with infotainment unit.

Apart from new concept vehicles, BMW stand will also witness demos of the award-winning, on-demand music service MOG that is present in all 2011 BMWs powered with ConnectedDrive technology.

Thus, the German car brand has worked towards developing a futuristic and innovative brand of vehicles and will have a lot to offer at Los Angeles Auto Show this year.
