      BMW eyes top position in India for the third consecutive year

      The Germany based leading luxury car maker BMW is aiming to grab the numero uno position in the luxury car segment of Indian market for the third constitutive year in 2011. The company is aiming to register a high double digit growth over the 6,426 units sold in the calendar year 2010. The company aims to achieve the top position in the country through aggressive product offerings and rapid expansion of dealership network in the country.

      In a statement given on Monday, BMW India President Andreas Schaaf said, "BMW is committed to India. The group sees huge potential in the market. We will continue to focus on maintaining the leadership in the Indian luxury car market by ensuring quality to our customers."

      BMW India is aiming to roll-out a number of its global portfolio cars in India this year that comprises of the 6-series (convertible) and a new sports utility vehicle X3. According to Mr. Schaaf, "The new X3 series is another great product to be launched by the middle of the year in India. I see a huge success of the X3 series in India."

      Moreover, the company plans to take the total number of dealerships in India to 40 dealers by the end of next year.`
