The upcoming model from the end of BMW is expected to be the lowest priced car of the auto maker in the Indian auto market. Coming to the technical configuration of the upcoming model, nothing has been confirmed as of now. However, auto analysts are of view that the new 2 Series will be equipped with the same set of engines, which are offered in rest of the auto markets with little modifications suiting the requirements of Indian buyers. The launch of a new model from BMW will surely create a stir in the premium sedan segment, which is anticipated to bring a cut throat competition for other big players of the same segment. Industry experts believe that the upcoming model from BMW will deliver a stiff competition to Audi A4 and upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA, among others. Interestingly, BMW 2 Series will also challenge the legacy of Honda Accord and Volkswagen Passat, which are currently ruling the respective segment.

Sources close to the development process stated that the model is expected to mark its presence in the Indian daylight somewhere in the first quarter of 2014. Reportedly, the BMW 2 Series will first hit the European markets and will be then followed to the Indian turf. The launch of a new model will widen the scope for the German auto maker in the country as it will increase the number of options for different class of buyers. The expected price of upcoming BMW 2 Series is between Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh; the segment which is witnessing a decent demand as of now.
