The 2013 New York Motor Show marked unveiling of some of the hottest set of wheels and left global car enthusiasts visibly awed with sheer brilliance in terms of cutting edge automobile engineering. The New York auto salon played host to a number of exciting super sports and luxury cars, from the well-established brands like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz, amongst others.
Jaguar Land Rover, the iconic British car maker owned by Tata Motors, showcased the Jaguar XJ-R and XKR-S GT super cars and the 2014 Range Rover Sport. Speaking on the new showcases, Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar termed the 2014 XJ-R sedan- “a luxury limousine with super car performance,” whereas the special edition XKR-S GT coupe is aimed for “those people who want a Jaguar performance experience at its most exhilarating.” The three models are expected to hit Jaguar Land Rover's retail outlets by the end of 2013 calendar year in United States.
Porsche, the German luxury premium car maker, introduced its 2014 911 GT3 sports car in New York during the auto salon. The stunning super car is powered with a 3.8 litre 6-cylinder boxer engine that rolls out a maximum power output of 475 bhp at 8,250 rpm. Speaking on the new 911 GT3 super sports car, Detlev von Platen, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Porsche Cars North America, said, “This car bridges the gap between race car and street car.”
Rolls-Royce, the legendary British premium automobile marque, displayed its 2014 Wraith model at this year's New York Motor Show. The fastback coupe is one of the world’s most desirable ultra-luxury models at the moment. The 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith is designed on a scaled down Ghost chassis and derives its power from a 6.6 litre Twin-Turbo V12 motor, which is rated to pump out a peak power of 624 bhp. The V12 powertrain allows the high end premium car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds. Speaking on the 2014 Wraith model, Giles Taylor, Director of design at Rolls-Royce, was quoted as saying, “You can’t deny the glamour of the brand. When you open the doors, you understand what Rolls Royce is all about.”
Another luxury British car maker- Bentley Motors enamoured the New York audience with its 2014 Bentley Flying Spur. The ultra-luxury model managed some rave reviews from top automobile experts and media present at the event. The Bentley Flying Spur is powered with a 6 litre W12 engine that produces a peak power output of 616 bhp. The high end model accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds and has its top speed recorded at 321 kmph. “The new Flying Spur is the most powerful and fastest four-door Bentley ever,” quoted Kevin Rose, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, Bentley Motors.
Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury marque, unveiled its CLA45 AMG coupe during this year's edition of the New York Motor Show. Speaking on the new model's launch, Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President, Mercedes-Benz, was quoted as saying, “The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG is the most powerful series-production 4-cylinder car on the market. This marks a completely new chapter in AMG history, and provides a new gateway, for a new class of younger buyers, into the AMG world.”
