The recent APEAL study released showed the diversity and competition in Indian two-wheeler market especially the popular gearless segment. To keep up with the competition and maintain their hold on the market, automobile companies continuously keep on releasing new models and revamped versions of their older scooters. That’s what Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. recently did with their new releases.

HMSI recently unveiled the latest model of their very successful Activa, named the Activa 3G while Mahindra Two Wheelers launched a new version of Gusto, the scooter they launched last year.

Activa is the one of the highest selling gearless scooters in the country produced by the Japanese automobile giant, Honda. Since its launch in the year 2000, the Activa has come a long way from its older days of 100cc engine and kick start. The latest update of the Honda Activa called the Activa 3G come with a myriad of new updates that include both cosmetic and internal changes. The cosmetic changes include new side panels, winkers, front stance and an all-new taillight. The new Activa comes with a wider and more comfortable seat and larger foot space which makes it one of the best scooters in the Indian market to ride.

The Activa retains the 110cc engine that is powered by Honda Eco technology that offers a mileage of 60 kmpl. It also comes with the combined braking system (CBS), full metal body and tubeless tyres which make it a very reliable choice. Activa is offered in 5 colors by HMSI, namely, Trance Blue Metallic, Lusty Red Metallic, Geny Grey Metallic, Black, and Pearl Amazing White. The new Activa is priced at Rs. 48, 852 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Mahindra Two Wheelers ltd. launched the first Gusto last year. The scooter had two variants the cheaper DX and the higher end VX. To fill up the gap between these two variants, the company launched a new variant that sits in between the two already in the market. The new HX is priced at around Rs. 49,000 which makes it a direct competitor of the new Activa 3G.

The new Gusto HX gets the height adjustable seat that lets you change the height from 735mm to 770mm. The new HX is powered by the same engine that powers DX and VS. The 109.6 cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine is capable of churning out 8 bhp of power and 9 Nm of torque. The scooter comes in 4 colors, namely, Volcanic Red, Magnetic Magenta, Iceberg White, Galactic Black.
