Bajaj Auto is planning to sell Pulsar 135cc model in the European markets. The company intends to market these models through the KTM dealerships across Europe. Bajaj Auto already owns substantial stake in the Austrian firm and has introduced super luxury bikes from KTM in India.
Bajaj already sells its Pulsar 135cc model in the Indonesia markets through KTM outlets in the country. Although PT Bajaj auto Indonesia reported losses last year it is likely to break even by 2012.
In the domestic market, Bajaj Auto is riding on the success of its model Discover and hopes to surpass Hero Honda in sales to grab the number uno position in the Indian market. “From the ninth position in the first quarter of 2009-10, Discover has climbed to the third position in the first quarter of 2010-11. This is a big boost for us. Going ahead, our focus will be on the two brands — Pulsar and Discover,” said S Sridhar, president (motorcycles), Bajaj Auto. Furthermore, according to the recent statement from Rajiv Bajaj to BS, the company will introduce a new facelifted variant of Pulsar in India next year.
Bajaj also states that the launch of Discover 150cc bike will escalate the success of the brand in India.
