Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL), the country's second largest two-wheeler manufacturer, introduced its Discover 100T entry level bike in the domestic market on January 7, 2013 in the domestic auto market. Pegged as the most technically sound 100 cc motorcycle offered to domestic audience, the Bajaj Discover 100T has been launched to curb the sales of Hero MotorCorp's Splendor, Honda Dream Yuga and Honda CB Twister entry level bikes in the domestic two-wheeler market.

The 2013 Bajaj Discover 100T (T as in 'Tourer') is the world's first 100 cc motorcycle to come trimmed with the cutting edge 4-valve DTS-I technology, a patent of Bajaj Auto. The company claims its entry level bike to deliver a mouth watering fuel economy of 87 kmpl, which is quite exceptional considering other models in the entry level bike segment of Indian two-wheeler market. The Discover 100T comes with an electric start, auto choke and DC headlights as standard features.

Coming to the engine specifications of Bajaj Discover 100T, the entry level bike is powered with a 100 cc motor that belts out a best-in-class peak power output of 10.1 bhp at 9,000 rpm, along with a maximum torque delivery of 9.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine assembly is mated to a five speed gearbox, which entails the bike to deliver maximum power and torque at least 30 per cent more than that of any other model in the 100 cc segment. The Bajaj Discover 100T is similar in appearance of its 125ST elder sibling, but comes fitted with gas filled Nitrox shock absorbers, instead of rear mono-shock suspension.

Bajaj Auto offers the Discover 100T motorcycle to domestic two-wheeler enthusiasts at a price tag of Rs. 50,500 (in the ex-showrooms of New Delhi). At present, the company has a 20 per cent share in the entry level segment bike segment and is working towards increasing the figure to 30 per cent in the Indian auto market. Evidently, the Bajaj Discover 100T outsmarts every other model in the direct competition, in terms of looks, engine performance and pricing considerations.
