      Bajaj Auto to commence delivery of KTM 390 Duke by September end

      Bajaj Auto, one of India's leading two wheeler manufacturers, has announced that it will start the domestic delivery of KTM 390 Duke, the naked sports bike, by the end of September this year. The launch of KTM 390 Duke has created a lot of buzz among bike lovers across the country, who are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the motorcycle. Notably, the KTM 390 Duke, a premium segment vehicle, was unveiled in the Indian market in June at a price of Rs. 1.80 lakh. Amit Nandi, the Vice President for Probiking at Bajaj Auto, confirmed the news when asked by journalists.

      "KTM 390 Duke bike domestic delivery will begin from the last week of September. So far the company has received 1,500 bookings since its launch," said Nandi. He also informed that there is a waiting period of around 90 days for the KTM 390, which is expected to perform well in the India. This is the third bike from KTM brand that has been launched in India by Bajaj Auto. The KTM 390 Duke has been conceptualised, developed and designed in India at the Chakan production facility, which is located in Pune.

      India-based Bajaj Auto currently owns around 48 per cent share in the Austrian two-wheeler maker KTM. According to reports, the joint venture between Bajaj Auto and KTM aims at the production of around 2 lakh units by the end of 2017. Out of the targeted 2 lakh units that will be manufactured, approximately a lakh would be rolled out from the Chakan facility in Pune while the rest would be produced at the the facility in Austria.

      Reports have revealed that Austria-based KTM clocked sales of around 1.07 lakh units of motorcycles all over the world. Officials from Bajaj Auto have revealed that all KTM 390 bikes manufactured till now have been shipped to Austria, from where it is expected to be distributed to all the dealers. Each year, KTM exports around 25000 to 30000 motorcycles to US and European markets from its Chakan plant.
