Renault has finally launched the much awaited 4x4 variant of Duster in India. The Renault Duster All Wheel Drive (AWD) version has been launched in two variants namely Rxl and RxZ. The RxZ has been launched for INR 12.99 Lakhs, whereas the RxL variant has been launched for INR 11.87 Lakhs. Earlier this year Mahindra Ssangyong launched the Rexton RX6 with 4x4 capabilities. The Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton RX6 has been launched for INR 19.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The newly launched Renault Duster AWD is powered by 1.5 litre diesel engine. The compact SUV comes with three drive modes like - two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive and automatic. The fairly powered engine delivers impressive power output of about 110 Ps. Moreover, the new Duster AWD delivers impressive fuel efficiency figure of about 19.72 kmpl. Rexton RX6 from Mahindra Ssangyong is powered by a 2.7 litre motor that is mated to a five speed manual transmission. During the launch of Rexton RX6, Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer, automotive division, Mahindra & Mahindra, stated, “As a customer-centric organization, we continuously take feedback from consumers and update our products to cater to their evolving needs. One such feedback from customers was the need for high-end and luxurious features in a manual transmission model. The launch of the Rexton RX6 is a step in this direction and will give driving enthusiasts a manual transmission with 4x4 capabilities, along with high-end features.”
As part of interesting features the new Renault Duster AWD gets an Eco mode that claims to improve mileage by about 10%. You can navigate through different modes using the smartly positioned center dial. The vehicle gets new instrument console, touchscreen audio system and cruise control functions. As for Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton RX6, it comes with features like eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function electrical sunroof, automatic head lights and rain-sensing wipers. The interiors are finely crafted and carries an upmarket feel.
