There have been only a few models in the Indian car market that have performed well despite challenging conditions, one of them being Hyundai Grand i10. Launched in the month of September in 2013, Grand i10 was one of the most talked about cars, which attracted a lot of attention much before its introduction in India. This model has been slotted between the current i10 and i20 hatchbacks with an aim to strengthen Hyundai’s position in the segment. Now, banking on the success of this model, Hyundai is looking to launch an automatic transmission version, in coming years.

The South Korean auto maker anticipated this model to do really well and to say the least; it has lived up to expectations. Industry experts have praised this model for its unique design, excellent interiors and technologically advanced features. Notably, Grand i10 is Hyundai’s cheapest diesel offering in India, something that has attracted a high number of buyers. Although the price of diesel is increasing regularly, cars running on this fuel are high in demand due to their ability to perform better for long distances. Industry experts feel that the launch of Grand i10 automatic could attract even more buyers.

Hyundai is not likely to make any changes to the appearance and styling of Grand i10. Automatic version of this model is likely to come with the same exteriors and interiors, which have been appreciated by customers. This stylish hatchback has a superb design that is a combination of innovation and art. Highlights of exteriors are neatly housed headlamps, complementing chrome grille, superb aerodynamics, LED turn indicators, integrated roof rails, chrome door handles and diamond cut alloy wheels. Not only are exteriors of this vehicle stylish, they also score high in terms of utility. Coming to interiors, Hyundai has been lauded by experts for the work it has done in interiors of Grand i10. According to the company, interiors of this hatchback are ‘comfeaturich’, which explains what Hyundai has tried to provide customers with. From the cabin comfort to the convenience of passengers, everything has been catered to in the Grand i10.

The automatic version of this model is likely to come with all features. Grand i10 has ergonomically designed front seats in bucket style, which makes sure that occupants get complete comfort. Incredibly, interiors of this car come with first-in-segment rear air conditioner vent that automatically ensures fast cooling. Comfort and convenience for customers are ensured by keyless start, seat back pockets, height adjustable driver seat, cooled glove box and floor console storage. Safety is one of the key aspects of Hyundai vehicles and Grand i10 is no different. Hyundai is likely to include all safety components in automatic versions of Grand i10. Dual airbags, rear defogger and robust structure are some of the main safety highlights of this stylish hatchback.

Although nothing has been confirmed, it is widely rumoured that automatic version of Grand i10 is likely to retain the same engine line-up that powers current variants. Hyundai, reportedly, is going to provide an automatic gearbox in both petrol and diesel versions. Hyundai Grand i10 diesel runs on a 2nd generation U2 1.1-litre engine that is powered by the CRDi technology, which helps in bettering operating pressure, atomization of fuel and efficiency. This engine is capable of generating an output of 69 bhp and peak torque of 159 Nm. On the other hand, petrol variant is powered by 1.2-litre engine with dual VTVT (Variable Timing Valve Train) and churns out maximum output of 81 bhp. It is likely that both these versions will be mated with a four-speed automatic gearbox. As of now, nothing has been confirmed regarding the launch of Grand i10 automatic but considering rumours and reports, it is not far away.
