Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is all-prepared to set the pulse racing at the 11th edition Auto Expo with its new Fluidic Hyundai Elantra or Avante sedan that would tap the D-segment of the Indian auto industry. The car is expected to confront the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Laura when it rolls-out in 2012; however, the launch date is not confirmed as yet. In addition, the Renault Fluence, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta would also be on the list of competitors in India.

It must be noted that the Elantra’s predecessor did not receive the expected response from the Indian buyers. However, things may favour Hyundai when the Fluidic Elantra hits the Indian roads as rave reviews have come its way from around the world. The experts have developed a penchant for the car due to its design, performance and class-apart interiors. Recently, a disguised model of the Hyundai Elantra Fluidic attracted much paparazzi during its road tests in New Delhi that further firmed the company’s intentions to launch the car in the country soon.

The Hyundai Elantra displays eye-catching styling that is been given rise on the lines of Hyundai’s new Fluidic design philosophy. As a result, the large-scale change that becomes a part of the new Elantra would definitely aid in negating the negative feedback that was received for its looks. The interior too has gone through much upgradation as against that of the previous generation Elantra.

In the international markets, the Hyundai Elantra Fluidic is well known by the name Avante sedan and carries a 1.6-litre, 140 hp petrol engine that counts on Hyundai’s gasoline direct injection technology. The attributes of the engine assure unhindered combustion that proves to enhance the power and improve fuel efficiency. However, the car is likely to miss out on the GDI technology and will be replaced by a conventional petrol unit that uses variable valve technology, when Elantra Fluidic enters the Indian market.

The 1.6-litre Gamma turbodiesel engine that is present in Verna would probably be upgraded in order to attain a 140 hp power and get affixed in the Elantra Fluidic. The diesel-powered Elantra will be on the cards for Hyundai for the purpose of giving new highs to its sales in India.

Thus, Hyundai would surely be able to take a coveted stand at the Auto Expo and pull the masses with technology-laced products on offer.
