Maruti Suzuki finally showcased its highly anticipated Ertiga MPV at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo on 5th January 2012. While seeing Maruti's first Utility Vehicle (UV), we appreciated how far the company has moved on from the R3 concept it displayed at 2012 Expo in Delhi. We believe that the compact size of the car will be its highlight feature, as it will be a valuable asset over the large SUVs currently available in the country. Moreover, this car will provide the masses with a family vehicle that creates ample space despite small dimensions.

The car will be available in petrol as well as diesel versions; while we saw the all-new 1.4 L K-14 VVT engine in the former, the latter was fitted with a powerful Super Turbo DDiS motor. Its stylish appearance will attract the new-age families of India, which is the demographic that Maruti is aiming for. This vehicle will enable such passengers to travel to cities as well as distant locations for vacations. The manufacturer has said that it will develop the car at its Gurgaon production plant. We expect the car to hit the roads by mid-2012, though it is hard to guess its price tag at the time of its launch.
