Apart from MPV Concept, General Motors (GM) showcased Chevrolet Sail hatchback that would act as the perfect replacement for Chevrolet Aveo U-VA. General Motors has introduced the MPV Concept for the B-segment. The spacious MPV with flexible seating and the option of 7 and 8 seater configuration makes this model suitable for big families.
Lowell Paddock, President and Managing Director, General Motors stated, “The Chevrolet MPV Concept is designed for those who want a spacious, comfortable and well-styled vehicle to enjoy life with their loved ones." According to a popular automobile magazine, AutoCar India, the MPV Concept will be available in the Indian market as ‘Enjoy MPV’.
The Chevrolet MPV Concept now named Enjoy will be sold in the Indian automobile market in petrol as well as diesel variant. However, this new product by Chevrolet will make its debut on Indian roads as a petrol model. This initial model will be equipped with a 1.4 litre petrol engine that would deliver a maximum power of 94 hp. The diesel variant will have 1994cc diesel engine that would churn out peak power of 100 hp and peak torque of 220 Nm. The diesel engine of this vehicle is assisted with 5 speed manual transmission which enhances the overall performance of the car.
The chassis of the MPV Enjoy has been designed by General Motors Technical Centre (India) in collaboration with the British automobile manufacturer, Lotus. Safety has been given the top most priority by GM and that is why the chassis has been made with ultra-high-strength and high-strength steel. Apart from strong chassis, the company has incorporated important safety features such as dual airbags, fog lamp, safety belts with load limiters and ABS (Anti-lock braking system). The car is incorporated with power steering wheel to enable the driver have complete control over the vehicle. Following the league, the car is also is equipped with disc brakes at the front end and drum brakes at the rear.
As far as the comfort and convenience features are concerned, the MPV Concept includes dual-row air conditioning (with climate control), power windows, rear armrest with cup holder and central locking (remote). Rear defogger, remote fuel filler, rear wiper, leather seats, folding rear seats, driver seat adjustment, door mirror (both side electric) rear AC vents and alloy wheels are some of the other features of the Chevrolet MPV Concept.
Speaking about the launch of the MPV, P. Balendran, Vice President (Corporate Affairs), General Motors commented, "The MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) will be launched in India by the end of this year.” The Chevrolet MPV Concept is expected to carry a price tag between Rs. 6 lacs and Rs. 9 lacs. Once launched, the MPV will compete with Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and the soon to be launched Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, among other B-segment vehicles.
