      Audi unveils new 3.0 litre TDI motor and seven-speed dual clutch S tronic transmission

      German luxury auto maker, Audi has revealed the new 3.0 litre TDI diesel motor at the 35th International Vienna Motor Symposium. The new diesel powertrain will offer varied power outputs of 221 PS and 276 PS. Audi’s new motor has been built to comply with the Euro 6 regulations and the company claims the new motor to run on Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel as well.

      Modifications made to the turbocharger and variable load oil pump enable the new engine to yield more power. Audi has tuned the new diesel powertrain to offer 13 per cent enhanced fuel economy and reduced carbon emissions. The total displacement volume offered by new engine will be around 2,967 cc. Cylinders is also fitted at bank angle of ninety degrees and modifications have been made to make the motor thermally efficient.

      Segregate coolant loops with bettered thermal management system are donned by crankcase and cylinder heads. Certain adjustments have been made in the engine that marks first of its kind in the automotive industry. One such example is the fitment of diesel particulate filter and SRC injection in the Nitrogen Oxide storage converter.

      The company also revealed a new seven-speed dual clutch S tronic transmission for the engines placed longitudinally, thus utilizing the front wheel drive layout. Audi claims that the new seven-speed clutch also work towards increased efficiency and helps bring down carbon emissions by close to 10g/km.
