Audi has unveiled the second generation of its mid-engine sports car – the Audi R8 2016. The model will debut at the soon to be organised 85th edition of the Geneva Motor Show. It is about to be organised during the first week of March 2015. This new car is expected to be faster, more efficient, lighter and developed from scratch. Audi R8 will be designed at a new Quattro GmbH facility, which was specially built for this model, Böllinger Höfe site at Heilbronn. The model is supposed to go on sale in Europe during the summer season.
Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical Development at the Audi, said, “With the new Audi R8, our engineers are bringing accumulated racing expertise from the race track onto the road. No other model of ours evokes more dynamic emotion. The new R8 V10 plus is therefore the most powerful and fastest series-production Audi of all time.”
The mills of the car, in the 2016 R8, come with a single engine option – a 5.2-litre naturally aspired V10. There are two different tune sets for the engine – 540 hp and 610 hp. The power is transmitted to the wheels with the help of a seven-speed S-tronic transmission in an all new Quattro AWD (all-wheel drive) setup.
