Audi is the latest automaker to jump on to the SUV coupe bandwagon and has announced that it is adding two new coupe SUV models to its line-up in the next two years. Dubbed the Q8 and Q4, they will go into production in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

      Audi Q8
This will be the German automaker’s new flagship SUV to take on the likes of the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS Coupe. It was shown in concept form at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show and is expected to be offered in standard as well as hybrid electric power trains. It sports Audi’s latest design philosophy and when launched, it will be fitted with their latest cabin design and technology. The car will be produced in standard and S guise at Audi’s plant in Bratislava where Audi is already assembling the Q7 and soon-to-be-launched Q7 hybrid.

      Audi Q4
The coupe SUV craze has now reached the lower end of the luxury market and will see Audi launch the Q4 SUV. This will take on the likes of the BMW X2, Mercedes-Benz GLC coupe and the Volvo XC40. It is likely to be offered with the same engine options as the Q3 SUV, but with all the design hallmarks of the body style. It will be produced at Audi’s Hungarian plant in Gyor. It will be produced alongside the Q3 whose assembly will move from Spain to Gyor in 2019.

Given the popularity of SUVs these days, we can be sure that both these models will come to the Indian market once they are launched globally. There is a high probability that they will be locally assembled to keeps prices competitive.
