German car maker Audi is set to expand in India and intends to increase its sales at least by 50 percent in the Indian market. The company expects India to become the fifth largest auto market by 2015. Audi entered India in 2007 as Audi India and it currently has 12 dealers across India which it intends to increase up to 18 dealers by 2011. It also has roadside assistance program where the customers can avail services just by making a call.

"Our target is to grow by over 50 per cent both in this year and 2010. In 2008, we sold around 1,050 units in India and this year our target is to sell 1,600 units and then continue the momentum next year," said Audi India Head (Marketing) Martin Birkner. The company intends to assemble more models in the country to make its models more competitive and gain better advantage in the Indian market.

Audi currently assembles only two models A4 and A6 in India out of its total seven models available in the country. Other five models are imported as completely built units from its German plants which makes the models highly priced and less competitive.
