Though Audi is significantly aggressive in its sales of premium and luxury sedans across the globe, the brand is quite limited in the number of variants sold in India. Unlike its German compatriots BMW and Mercedes, the brand has only a few luxury sedan models available in the nation. As India becomes more and more auto-savvy in the new generation, it seems the German car manufacturer has started taking the hints quite positively. It appears that Audi will soon venture into the sector of performance cars. In a bid to achieve that feat, the manufacturer has silently imported the high-performing S5 sports coupe in India. This is basically a performance two-door version of the high-selling A4. The S5 sits just below the audacious RS5 and it will slightly more affordable when it is launched next year.
When it comes to the powertrain of the model, the 2015 Audi S5 runs on a 3.0-litre, supercharged V6engine, which is capable of churning out power of 333 hp and a net torque of 440 Nm. Mated with a seven-speed S-tronic automatic transmission, this car is set to scorch the streets with its superior power. The dry weight of the car is estimated to be about 1675 kilograms and delivers an impressive power to weight ratio. CO2 emissions have been restricted to only around 190 grams per kilometre. The S5 is capable of doing a 100 kilometre per hour in a mere 4.9 seconds, while the top speed of the model has been electronically limited to 250 kilometres an hour. A sports differential lock has been provided to the car, which ensures improved handling as well as perfect levels of traction control.
When we come to the aesthetics of the S5, it is essentially a two-door version of the A4 sedan. It has been provided with a single front grille with adaptive Xenon headlights as well as LED daytime running lights. The rear sports LED tail lights have been provided with supercharged badging as well as dual exhausts, which accentuate the sporty credentials. The Audi S5 has been provided with a state-of-the-art MMI Infotainment system with Audi connect Bang and Olufsen audio system. Three zone climate control as well as a panoramic sunroof has been provided for the new entrant. The safety aspects of the model are taken care by ASR, ESC, EBD and ABS to name a few.
