Audi, which just completed its fifth anniversary in India, is considering the S4 model as the latest addition to its domestic portfolio. This model is the sportier version of the A4 sedan, whose facelifted iteration is set to hit the roads on May 03, 2012. The German automotive major is well known for offering a host of luxury sedans and Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and has recently become the second largest premium car manufacturer of the country.

While developing the S4 model, Audi has modified the body kit to an extent in order to make the standard A4 sportier. This aspect is further increased with the help of its suspension, which effectively brings down the height of the car by 20 mm. In order to render another touch of sportiness in the S4, the company has used large 18 inch wheels and low profile rubber. Due to these additions, the four-door S4 delivers a sportier performance as compared to the A4 sedan. It is anticipated that the manufacturer will make a few modifications in terms of technical specifications and interior fittings before presenting the car in India, though this will discuss these after some time.

The manufacturer has assimilated the S4 with the 3.0 L, 6 cylinder TFSI engine that is capable of generating maximum power of 333 hp and producing peak torque of 440 N. This motor will be complemented by the 7 speed S tronic transmission system, which will enable it to move from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5 seconds, which is quite similar to the acceleration figures of sports cars. However, the highlighting factor of the S4 will be its fuel economy, which will be among the best in its class at 12.34 kmpl.

It is expected that the advanced quattro technology will be used in the S4 model, just like all other Audi cars available today. This technology delivers power to all four wheels and provides it with improved stability as well as driver control and enhances the overall vehicle dynamics. The company has also made sure that the car has impressive braking capacity by incorporating it with a high performance braking mechanism that can easily handle rise in engine output while stopping the car.

Even though Audi India offers other sports-oriented models like R8, TT and RS5, the S4 will be different from them as it will provide the perfect combination of performance and practicality to the driver. This unique characteristic of the model will give it a huge market in India and possibly create the ideal launch pad for other models of Audi's S series in coming times.
