      Audi R18 e-tron Quattro in Auto Expo 2014

      German car-maker Audi shall showcase its 2012 winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The super sports performer that shall be in the limelight for Audi during upcoming 2014 Auto Expo event is the R18 e-tron quattro. A brief overview of 24 hours Le Mans – the event has been holding a special place in the hearts of motor sport lovers since 1923. The 24 Heures du Mans is now a part of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The participating cars have to run 24 hours on the circuit without sustaining any mechanical failure and monitoring the car’s fuel, brake and tyre condition.

      It is interesting to note that Audi was the first one to register its victory in 2012 with a hybrid drive system that featured in its R18 e-tron quattro that participated in the Le Mans event. The hybrid drive car – LMP1 is a prototype that has been specially designed for motor sport conditions. Allan McNish, Audi driver who has won twice at Le Mans said, "Le Mans is a race of 24 hours. All day, all night. With either of aquaplaning on the straights, or 35 degrees of sunshine. And it only stops when the checkered flag drops on Sunday afternoon in 15 hours. A race, a day, a season, a winner".

      Tom Kristensen, Eight times winner of Le Mans said, “Le Mans is such a great race because you can never do anything alone. You have to work as a team member. And being a team member makes you a better person”. The 24 hours race puts the machines along with its driver to the test! The event has been thrilling since fans since its inception days dating to way back in 1923. In terms of sports and performance, Audi’s Le Mans prototypes have always been the lead runners. The German car-maker has motor sport running through its veins.

      Along the list of sports cars that shall be showcased at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo event, Audi intends on reserving a special spot for the R18 e-tron Quattro. As per sources, the 2014 Le Mans race is slated to held between June 14-15 at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. Its definitely worth the wait to see the LMP1 set the tracks on fire!
