Audi plans five new models by end of 2018

The Ingolstadt-based carmaker also revealed its plan of becoming a premium digital car company. All the upcoming four rings cars will bear this new shift in the company’s vision and sport all the autonomous and connectivity features that Audi has in its kitty.

The five models that will make their debut next year include – the new A7 Sportback, A6 sedan, new-generation Q3 and A1 hatchback. Apart from these, Audi will also debut the production-spec e-tron electric SUV to mark their first plunge into electric vehicles. The new A7 Sportback and the A6 sedan will rock the new design language which was debuted by the A8. Both cars have been spotted testing on more than a few occasions now. The pair will also get the 48-volt electric mild hybrid system as an optional fitment, although it comes as standard in the A8. The Q3, on the other hand, will enter into a new generation based on the VW’s modular MQB platform. This will help the crossover to lose weight while cutting down on manufacturing cost.

Owing to this new platform, the Q3 is expected to grow in dimension as well. The A1 supermini will also be revamped with a new platform and added features to keep it looking new amidst the latest crop of Euro-hatchbacks.

The e-tron electric vehicle was showcased in the e-tron Sportback Concept guise at the 2017 Auto Shanghai a few months back. We can expect a preview of the electric crossover at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show before the car is released next year. The EV will debut the electric technology of the German carmaker along with autonomous technology when it hits the road in a couple of years’ time.
