      Audi mulls to launch A3 sedan in India

      Audi India, the third largest luxury car maker in the Indian market, is mulling to mark its debut in the starting range of luxury car segment in the country by launching its A3 sedan in the Indian market. The car is expected to be priced competitively in the segment of sub Rs 20 lakhs where it would be taking on the likes of Honda Accord, Nissan Teana, Volkswagen Passat, etc.

      In a recent statement Audi India Head, Mr. Michael Pershcke said, “We have certain products in mind which we want to introduce to gain leadership position in the Indian market. We are looking at adding on the A3 to our portfolio and are conducting a market study to assess the feedback among consumers here.”

      However, the company is yet to specify the timeline of the launch of A3 sedan in the country. Mr. Pershcke added that Audi has a top-down approach. The company wants to establish its brand here, ensuring its customers understand Audi’s positioning and the values that Audi stand for before bringing in and focusing on selling compact cars such as the A1 in the country.

      It is to be mentioned here that the company will launch its business sedan Audi A6 in the Indian market in August this year, followed by a compact luxury SUV Q3 next year.
