      Audi likely to buy Ducati soon

      The Germany’s based leading luxury car maker Audi, which has been working aggressively on expanding its foot prints in the global market, is now mulling to acquire the leading Italian premium bike maker Ducati. Audi is in talks with the Ducati’s owner Investindustrial, and is speculated to soon buyout this exotic bike maker.

      The prospective acquisition is believed to be a part of Audi’s ‘Project Eagle,’ through which it aims to contribute majorly in making its parent Volkswagen AG the largest car maker in the world by year 2018.

      In a recent statement, Mr. Andrea Bonomi, head of Investindustrial, said that the firm is looking forward to partner with a world class industrial group so that it can achieve its future growth targets. He also said that the company wants to sell this brand for about one billion Euros.

      Ducati currently has a 9 percent share in the premium bike segment. The firm has sold a total of 42,000 motorcycles in year 2011. In past few years, Ducati has been working aggressively on expanding its portfolio in the global market. The company has launched a number of popular models in past few years including Multistrada 1200, 1199 Panigale and the Diavel.
