      Audi India to raise production capacity by 50 percent

      Audi India, one of the fastest growing luxury car makers in the Indian auto market, is all set to boost its manufacturing capacity in the country by over 50 percent to 9,000 units. The latest capacity enhancement initiative is a part of company’s future expansion plans, through which it is aiming to become the largest luxury vehicle maker in the Indian market.

      At present, the total production capacity of the company’s production facility in the country is 6,000 units. By setting up a new hall, named as hall C, the company is looking forward to produce an additional production of 3,000 units.

      In a recent statement, Audi India head Michael Perschke said, "We are building a new assembly hall, which is called hall C, which would contribute to production of another 3,000 cars. When we started our business five years ago, the investment was calculated at around 30 million Euros. Of this, 20 million euro we have consumed till last year."

      At present, Audi India is on the third spot in the sales chart of luxury car segment in India, following BMW and Mercedes Benz on first and second place.
